Preston West Primary School has partnered with the Cyber Safety Project since 2022. The proram runs from Prep to Year 6 on an odd and even year scope and sequence. The aim of the program is to empower our students with the skills and knowledge to independently manage their digital safety and wellbeing.

The Cyber Safety lessons cover online safety, cyber security, and digital wellbeing and are all underpinned by the key values of responsibility, integrity, strength and empathy. All lessons align with state and Victorian curriculum and are reviewed each year to ensure they are current and reflect the ever-changing digital world.

The Cyber Safety Project are a ‘Trusted eSafety Provider’ and endorsed by the eSafety Commissioner.

Students from Prep to Year 6 participate in regular Cyber Safety lessons throughout the year. Year 5 and 6 students participate in a Cyber Safety incursion run by educators from the Cyber Safety Project each year. PWPS staff have also participated in both online and face to face professional learning sessions with the Cyber Safety Project in 2022 and 2024.

In 2024 PWPS signed up to a parent webinar series on cyber safety. The school will collect community feedback on the usefulness of this series from the community before making a decision moving forward.
