A Little Green Thumb

 LITTLE GREEN THUMB.

"Little Green Thumbs" is a wonderful program that allows students hands on experience in the kitchen garden. Each class has its own plot and this term the students have already planted potatoes, snow peas, beans and beetroot. Grade 1/2's are busily raising vegetable and flower plants from seeds. The whole school is participating in creating a giant worm sculpture, out of wire and fabric, during a lunch time garden club. In keeping with our Health and Nutrition Program the grade 3/4's are participating in a "pick, prepare and eat" lunch program with soup and salad wraps on the menu. The grade 5/6's are busy maintaining the plots, weeding and mulching the paths, constructing tepees for the plants to grow on and painting and beautifying the gardens. The school is very lucky to have two large water tanks which enables all year round watering.
